Pick the role you want to perform, then adapt it to the objective. A Medic is a practical choice if you want to help downed teammates, including players from another squad. That ability does not replace the COG-tag process for a killed player.
Build a squad around jobs, not a tier list
Holding ground
Assault supports cover-based pressure. Marksman adds precise fire and target marking. Choose positions that let those tools contribute rather than assuming the same approach suits every class.
Recovering under pressure
Medic supports nearby teammates. Breacher has a personal recovery and damage-reduction tool for close-range fighting. Discuss who will stay near the group when someone goes down.
Choose around the job you want to do. Duplicate classes are allowed, including four of the same class; there is no compulsory one-of-each composition.
Match the recommendation to your class level
| Difficulty | Recommended class level |
|---|---|
| Infantry | 10–20 |
| Commander | 20–30 |
| Allfather | Maximum class level: 30 |
Below level 10, follow the recommendation shown in the game. At an overlap, use your squad's comfort and loadout to decide; reaching a number does not guarantee success. Class progression unlocks options in the three mod categories, while player levels and challenges progress separately.
Choose a shorter Horde Siege mission when trying a different role, so your first experiment does not require a full long defense.
